PET-CF (carbon fiber PET) print temperature and settings

PET reinforced with chopped carbon fiber: stiffer and more dimensionally stable than plain PET, with a matte finish.

Across the 3 PET-CF (carbon fiber PET) lines we track, the median recommended range is 220–250 °C at the nozzle and 70–90 °C on the bed. Tectonic 3D starts lowest (220 °C) and Bambu Lab goes highest (270 °C).

Good for

  • stiff brackets and functional parts
  • parts that must hold their shape
  • a matte surface that hides layer lines

Watch out for

  • The carbon fiber is abrasive and wears a brass nozzle out quickly
  • Lower layer adhesion and toughness than the unfilled material
  • A 0.4 mm nozzle can clog; 0.6 mm is a common choice

Frequently asked questions

What temperature should I print PET-CF (carbon fiber PET) at?

Most brands recommend about 220–250 °C at the nozzle and 70–90 °C on the bed (median of 3 brands). Use your brand's own range when you have it.

Do I need an enclosure for PET-CF (carbon fiber PET)?

Not strictly, but an enclosure reduces warping on larger PET-CF (carbon fiber PET) prints.

Does PET-CF (carbon fiber PET) need a hardened nozzle?

Yes. The fiber fill is abrasive and wears out brass nozzles quickly; use hardened steel or tungsten carbide.
