What the specs mean for you

Build volume is the largest part you can print in one piece; check a specific model with Will it fit?. Motion system matters for speed: CoreXY printers move the head in X and Y and keep the bed still, so they usually print faster than bed-slinger (i3-style) designs. A direct drive extruder handles flexible TPU far better than a Bowden setup.

A heated chamber keeps ABS, ASA, PC and nylon from warping and cracking, and a hardened stock nozzle means carbon- and glass-filled filaments are fine out of the box. More compatible parts means an easier time finding upgrades and spares later; browse them per printer or in the build planner.

Frequently asked questions

Where do these specs come from?

From the open-source OrcaSlicer printer profiles, which list each printer’s printable area, extruder and nozzle. Printable area can be a little smaller than the advertised size.

Can I share a comparison?

Yes. The chosen printers are in the page address, so copying the link shares the same comparison.

Why are prices not compared?

Printer prices change often and differ by store and region, so we compare the specs that do not change and link to each printer’s page instead.
